Current Theme Song

I found this blog post while trying to find a link to this song online, and it's like this blogger took the words out of my mouth. LOOOOOVE this song!!! I have it on "repeat" on iTunes, and it plays over and over and OVER!!!! LOVE the version from the movie Invictus -- SO GOOD!!! -- and I love the translation -- what a battle cry for our lives, especially in these times....."show us the way," indeed!!

The version featured in the movie is by far by favorite, but at least this commercial gives a general "feel" for it.....

The best year yet....

Last weekend, my mom and I went to the North Carolina Seafood Festival, and I honestly think it's the best it's been since we started attending a few years ago.

The vendors, the food, the entertainment, and the overall atmosphere made for a fantastic day!

One of our favorite -- and newest -- parts of the festival was the cooking demonstrations in the chefs' tent. We watched the executive chef from Clawson's Restaurant prepare his version of shrimp and grits and then got to taste a sample. While it was plenty good, it certainly didn't compare to Nofo's version, which is the recipe we used when we made it for dinner that night. Mmmm....SO good!

Rock On!!

Last night we went to the Booth Amphitheatre in Cary and withstood thunder, lightning, and torrential rain to see Carolina Liar, One Republic, and Rob Thomas...and it was SO worth it!!!

Here's my favorite Carolina Liar song -- LOVE IT!!!

Here's my favorite -- and most well-known -- One Republic song:

And this is the song Rob Thomas opened with; it's off his new album and another favorite of mine!!!

MNO

You know it's going to be an interesting evening when you receive a bail bondsman's card with your parking permit as you arrive at the party.

Seriously.

It's been said that MNO (Men's Night Out) is the biggest party on the East Coast -- and I believe it.

It only happens once a year, is steeped in tradition and an air of secrecy, and people plan their lives around it.

Not joking.

I've been numerous times, but I think this year was the best yet. Check it out here.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Shakespeare is 'da MAN!!

Seriously.

Think about it: Nobody will be reading Twilight hundreds of years from now, but Will's stuff? Oh, yeah. We're already reading it -- and discussing it and analyzing it and enjoying it -- hundreds of years from when he first wrote it.

I've always loved his works, but I attended a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream by the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival last Friday that left me speechless, from the extraordinarily talented and versatile cast to the colorful costumes to the breathtaking use of lights, music, and set.

Kudos to the cast and crew -- and to The Bard. Thanks, Will! Even after all these years, you still 'da man!
